Hi Laure/Ivan,
I hope all is well. I've been settling in from
our recent trip and I must say we enjoyed it very much.
Heres my feedback:
1) Safari-Lake - Very good overall....Our guide,
Sammy was excellent.
- Tent accomodations were good
- Waterbuck hotel was good overall (some problems
with water, but to be expected)...good value
2) Lamu Town - loved it, very unique town
- our guide Omari was excellent and we got along
very well (just like sam). We Omar, your contact and we was very
nice. They took care of us and there were no concerns overall.
Matondoni (volunteer) - what an incredible experience.
We struggled in the beginning as there was not much to do but we survived.
The family we stayed at were very nice and accomodating. We were
inspired by this experience and enjoyed it very much.
Peponi - Very nice as well, especially after Mantondoni....3
nights was perfect as there is not much to do there...so it was relaxing
overall and the service was great.
Nairobi - The oakwood hotel is OK overall...not the
nicest hotel but not back. I would say 3 stars overall.
Good location...
Overall, we got picked up when we were suppose to
and there no problems. Laure/Ivan, you guys did an excellent job
organizing this and your sources came through for you.
Let me know if your team ever needs help. I
am a former Vice President of Business Development in Canada and I am
now starting up another company in the Human Resources area in Canada.
My passion is travelling, and I have many ideas but for now, I will
have to stay in Canada.

yes... we got back.. what a pity!

David and I want to thank you for the very good service we received
from you. Everything was perfect, we will definitely recommend you to
our friends and I will soon put an advert on the thorntree with our
feedback... when I find some time.. we have been very busy since
we are back! :(
- we had a really friendly reception in Nairobi from your representative.
The hotel in Nairobi was a bit shabby but I supposed was the best choice
for the fact was in front of the bus stop.. so not too bad in the end!

- Outpost Lodge in Arusha was very good! the staff very friendly and
the rooms are very nice!
- Sunny Safari was great, we managed to spot all big 5! the driver but
specially the chef were very friendly!
- hotel in Dar Sleep inn was good.. some A/C at last!

- Clove hotel was good as well the location is perfect and they have
stunning view from they terrace on the 4th floor, the room was small
but clean and functional but very very hot! the fan was not enough!
but for one night it was ok!
- Matamewe Beach was absolutely fantastic.. the staff, the food the
place were fantastic.. they really care about their guess! This was
a great choice.. I recommend it to anyone.. specially couples!

On our last night in Matamwe the Staff and Manager organized a romantic
dinner surprise on the beach just for David and I.. we had our own waiter
for the whole evening... they really made us feel special! Our
room was nice small simple but functional... but we looked at their
suites and are amazing.. different than any other very very nice! We
will recommend to friends that are planning a "romantic" holiday!

Super sur toute la ligne. Je vais tenter de résumer meme si c'est difficile
après une telle expérience. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié:
1) la qualité des infos que tu nous a données et le respect de tout
ce qui a été dit entre nous. Un peu perplexe au début, comme tu as pu
t'en rendre compte, du fait que pour moi le canal "internet sans contact
physique avec une agence" était une première expérience à ne pas louper
vu le type de voyage entrepris
2) l'acceuil sur place de la première à la dernière minute (tant
dans les bureaux d'Amicabre, qu'avec nos guides, je vais y revenir).
Contact qui fut à la fois chaleureux et authentique.
3)Sur place, nous avons vite apprécié d'avoir un guide (et
quel guide) + un chauffeur séparé. Un chauffeur qui adore
son job et est pret à sortir des sentiers battus pour nous satsfaire. Et
puis il y a Maurice, un garçon très compétent , qui a eu réponse à peu
près à tout, qui d'initiative nous a expliqué le mode de vie, ... des
animaux découverts,.. Un garçon à l'écoute de nos souhaits , qui a du
tact et s'exprimant dans un bon français et qui plus est à la
soif d'apprendre. Un guide qui est vraiment à recommander , je ne saurais
insister sur ce point (et pas seulement pour les francophones).
Si tu me permets de donner un bref avis sur ce qui suit:
1) les parcs: Samburu (nous n'avons pas été à Buffalo à proprement
parlé)et Shaba: le plus intéressant , le plus sauvage (superbe
rivière et paysage), pas mal d'aimaux et ce que nous avons apprécié:
le moins touristique de ceux visités. Point fort: on a assisté à la
chasse d'une lionne sur des gazelles. Nakuru: superbe
lac , belle concentration d'animaux sur un espace plus réduit, je m'attendais
juste à voir plus de sortes d'oiseaux différents. Masai
Mara: quel paysage extraordinaire, cette savane, vraiment content
de l'avoir parcourue mais nous avons été plutot surpris du " peu
d'animaux" observés par rapport à ce que l'on disait (meme si
je me rappelle très bien ta mise en garde sur le sujet concernant cette
période de l'année) . J'aurais tendance à penser que la situation
de l'hotel Mara Simba n'était pas excellente de ce pt de vue . En effet
nous avons parcouru (terre et ciel) pas mal de KMs sans "rien" voir.
Et lorsqu'il y avait concentration d'animaux(car il y en avait vers
le centre de la réserve) alors la magie disparaissait qq peu, la raison:
une autre concentration celle des touristes. Mais nous avons
apprécié le calme des "hors pistes" . Points forts: scène d'accouplement
d'un lion et très certainement le tour en ballon (panorama inoubliable
et très sympomatique:seuls 2 girafes, qqs babouins et gazelles
observées en 1h15 mais là n'était pas le principal)
2) les hotels : Très bon confort (voire top) de l'ensemble
des hotels, exception faite du Oakwood : plutot basique mais
OK , ombre au tableau: le bruit (boucan) dans la nuit de samedi (on
a dormi à tt cassé 3heures). Particulièrement bien mangé au Séréna et
apprécié le Mountain Lodge pour une première nuitée "en safari". Superbe
piscine pour le Shaba (comme tu nous l'avais dit) et très
content d'avoir passé 1 nuit au seréna et 1 nuit au Shaba pour
avoir apprécié 2 hotels dans 2 réserves différentes. Dommage pour
l'eau froide du Mara Simba mais très belle intégration dans la nature
le lg de la rivière.
3) Les trajets Samburu-Nakuru, Nakuru-Mara, Mara-Nairobi furent un peu
lg mais on a apprécié les paysages et appercu qqs scènes de vie très
interessantesBref comme tu le vois , nous sommes tous ravis et te remercions
pour le temps que tu as passé pour préparer ce voyage qui restera gravé
à tout jamais et saluons encore la qualité du guide. A ce sujet, j'aimerais
que tu en touches un mot à Rébéca (que nous n'avons pas vue), car les
qualités humaines et professionnelles de ce garçon en vallent la
peine .
Saches que je me ferai un plaisir de vous recommander et en toucherai
un mot un de ces jours sur le site du guide du routard.
Encore merci, une bonne continuation pour toi et nous reparlerons peut
etre un jour d'un autre voyage mais celà ce n'est pas pour demain mais
sait-on jamais...
Marzia: uganda safari and cultural tour

Gimmy (il tour leader) e' stupendo, gentilissimo,organizzatissimo
e molto disponibile nonche' anche molto professionale....ci ha colpito
favorevolmente soprattutto per la sua grande umanita'.
Il tour e' stato bellissimo , semplicemente perfetto....l'unica cosa
( ma proprio per voler mettere la ciliegina sulla torta) con il senno
del poi avremmo evitato le seese island e saremmo andati a rilassarci
una giornata a jinja e precisamente nel "lodge" dove siamo andati a
mangiare alla fine della mezza giornata di rafting ....the heaven rock.
L'hotel alle ssesse island era tutto fuorche' rilassante ....
La possibilita' di andare nei vari orfanotrofi a portare il cibo acquistato
con i soldi raccolti in italia....ci ha aperto un nuovo modo di fare
la vacanza.... e' stata un'esperienza bellissima e sconvolgente....grazie
La vacanza e' stata comunque da 10 e lode ....le critiche agli hotel.....hanno
solo
uno scopo di critica costruttiva......

Gimmy (the tour leader) is fantastic, extremely kind, very organised,
happy to help and professional... we were impressed mostly for big heart
that he has.
The tour has been great, simply perfect... the only thing (if we really
want to find something negative) now we can say that we would have avoided
the Ssese Islands and we would have replaced it with an extra day in
Jinja, at the Heaven Rock. The hotel at the Ssese Islands was everything
but relaxing.
The possibility to go and visit the orphanages and to bring food bought
with the money we collected in Italy opened up a new way for us to do
holidays. It has been a beautiful experience, shocking... thank you.
The final mark for the holiday anyway has been 10+ and the criticism
to the hotel is only to improve the service even more

j'ai fais un safari au Kenya il y a quelques mois, coté prestation c'était
l'opposée du tien puisque il n'y avait ( sur mon choix ) ni lodge ni
luxe (afin d'être plus près du safari et de voir le maximum d'animaux
ce en quoi j'ai été pleinement satisfait ) ni transfert en avion.
Coté prix c'était aussi l'opposé du tien puisque bien que j'y sois allé
en individuel ( ce qui augmente le prix puisque les couts type " carburants"
ne peuvent pas être répartis sur plusieurs persones ) je n'avais payé
"que" autour de 2000 USD ( sans l'avion international ni le tour en
mongolfière que j'ai voulu ajouter ce qui n'était pas du tout une bonne
idée)

Rebecca: Uganda cultural safari

It was a wonderful tour! ZedAway really took the time and care
to take me to see and do things in Uganda that really interested me.
We went on lots of beautiful safaris (like the gorilla trekking you
see in the photos attached here) but also arranged to do some home stays
with interesting people all over Uganda and spent the evening getting
to know some smart and energetic orphans in a few parts of the country
too! It was an extraordinary trip that suited both my environmental
and cultural sense of adventure.
