Support Africa

How can you support?
There are many ways in which you can help sustainability and conservation in Africa.
Sending money, although clearly very welcome, is certainly not the only thing you can do.
Clearly the impact of Western culture in Africa has been, is and continue to be extremely profound. African countries, for centuries, had to adapt to the demands of Western culture that in many cases governed them. When the west began to withdraw, and to be expelled, African countries were expected to establish forms of government that were alien to them.
Africa is not Europe, and it is not the US. It is a magical, unique continent,
with its own cultures and ways of living. What works in the west may not
necessarily work when transposed into an African context. Pouring cash into
Africa will not necessarily lift people out of poverty. It is possible that
it may contribute to the erosion of local cultures and identities more quickly
than anything else.
You can support sustainability simply by learning; reading about Africa
in the press, through blogs on the internet or just talking to friends.
If you want to give your time, you can undertake volunteer work based in
Africa, and if you want to give money, you can send this to specific projects
and initiatives. If you would like to support what we are trying to achieve
in some way, please do contact us for more information, or to discuss ideas
you may have. We can be emailed on helpafrica@ZedAway.com
At Zedaway we invite everyone to have an open mind about this fascinating continent. We can give you the holiday of a lifetime, partly because we care that our clients experience the whole package – sights, sounds, people, and way of life.
