Notes: This is a demanding climbing that requires very good phisical conditions, experience and special equipment to reach to highest point. Less experienced climbers can still enjoy the climb stopping around 4600 metres.
6 days program

Machame Route (All other routes available)

Day 1: Arusha - Kilimanjaro Machame Gate
After breakfast drive to Kilimanjaro Machame Gate (1800 metres). Your climb will start after passing through a banana and coffee farms in Machame Village. During the approximately 7 hours climb you will pass through the richest forested area on the mountain. Lunch en route on a small opening in the trees. You will see the ruins of Machame Hut (3000m) and you will see the glacier Kibo on a clear day.

Day 2: Shira
You will climb today for about 5 hours. You will reach a small semicircular cliff known as Picnic Rock where you will have the opportunity to have great views of Kibo and the Shira Plateau. You will stop in the Shira Plateau around 3840 metres on see level. On clear days you will have among the best views on Kilimanjaro; Kibo, the rock formations of Shira Plateau, and Mt. Meru.

Day 3: Great Barranco Valley
Today you will walk for approximately 6 hours through the lava ridges beneath the glaciers near the Lava Tower junction (4550 metres). Then you descend down the Great Barranco Valley (3900 metres).

Day 4: Barafu
You will climb through the Barranco Wall and South-Eastern part of Kibo, where you will have a fantastic view of the Southern Icefields. After lunch, you climb to reach Barafu (4600 metres) after about 7 hours of climb. You will then spend the rest of the day preparing for the next day.

Day 5: Mweka
This is a very hard day: your climb will be up to 15 hours. You will start climbing around 1am. You will reach Stella Point (5735 metres) around 7am in time for the sunrise over Mawenzi. The final ascent is a two hour round trip Uhuru Peak (5896 metres), passing close to the spectacular glaciers. You will then descent to Barafu and down to Mweka Forest (3100 metres).

Day 6: Arusha
You will walk for approximately 5 hours down to the Mweka Gate (1650 metres). At the gate, you will be picked and transferred to Arusha.
